Vali V/S Ravana – The Untold Clash Between Ravana and Vali

The narrative of Vali begins long before the events of the Ramayana. When Brahma was meditating on Meru mountain, a small smear from his eyes fell on the floor, resulting in the birth of a monkey known as Vriksharaja. Brahma told this beast to prowl the forest and kill demons. One day, Vriksharaja came across enchanted waters, or in other cases, a magical well. While admiring at his reflection in the water, he fell in and was converted into a lovely Lady by the well’s magical powers. Lord Indra and Lord Surya fell in love with this gorgeous woman right away, and their union resulted in the birth of two vanara sons: Indra’s son Vali and Surya’s son Sugreeva.

He was the king of Kishkinda and the brother of Sugriva, whose narrative has been told. He was married to Tara, and their son was Angada.

The Sugriva narrative tells the story of Vali’s birth. Vali, the elder and stronger of the two, ruled the kingdom, with Sugriva serving as his lieutenant. They worked together to keep the kingdom peaceful and stable. The locals recognized the two as both an excellent team and personal friends.

Vali once sat in penance for a long time, and a pleased Lord Brahma requested a favor. Vali begged Brahma that in any combat, his opponent would lose half his strength to Vali. Brahma gladly gave the boon. Vali was already immensely powerful and had become unbeatable. It was thought that no one could overcome Vali in head-on fight, and he defeated some of the finest warriors.

When Ravana learned of Vali’s abilities from Narada, he became arrogant and proceeded to Kishkinda. Ravana challenged Vali to fight, and they engaged in a furious combat. Vali eventually overcame Ravana and tied him up with his tail; according to some accounts, he carried him under his armpit. Ravana was unable to withstand the insult and pain and requested pardon. Vali immediately released Ravana, proving that he was the best and most powerful being on the plane and asked him for his friendship.
