Ravana was all praises for the painting. How Mahiti wished it was for her, but she knew, the painter didn’t matter to Ravana. It was the painting that he fell in love with, that too, because of Sita. Mahiti felt like embracing her king once. One more moment of silence and she would have don’t that! But Ravana was so overwhelmed by the painting that he ordered his minister to offer to purchase the painting and to gift her anything she demanded. Mahiti woke up from the trance she was, gazing at her king, at this moment.

 For one moment, she felt totally lost, in despair. She had lost her most cherished love to Sita. She no more wanted to see Sita. She could see Ravana’s love for Sita in his eyes. That’s all she could see! Alas, the king was never hers! But she asked the king, “Are you sure his highness? Will you give me anything I ask for?”

 Ravana was taken aback for a moment at the young beautiful girl asking him such a question. It was a known fact that Ravana would never go back on his words. He was annoyed for a moment at the girl’s ignorance but was too engulfed in admiring the painting that he decided to ignore her question. The minister was shocked for a moment too, but he managed the situation with a hearty laugh and reassured her.

 “I want to be with Sita. I have never seen her, but I want to know her more closely now that my king has decided to make her his own. Will you allow me to serve her?” Mahiti stopped with that and looked straight at the King’s eyes. Now, Ravana was confused. Why would such a lovely young girl, a fantastic artist, want to serve Sita in captivity? He couldn’t understand it a bit, none other than Mahiti’s father could either! But he quickly agreed to Mahiti’s request and ordered the minister to gift her something precious for the painting and to take her to Sita to be her servant.
