She was not ready to believe the rumours that were spreading like wildfire. Every day would start with a fantasy that left her more scarred and worried. Every nook and corner of Lanka seemed to be discussing only Sita’s beauty and Ravana’s longingness for Sita.
Mahiti was frustrated and decided to vent her emotions on a canvas and started drawing Sita in captivity as she could imagine. Mahiti’s parents could not understand the reason behind their daughter’s agitated emotions. Though she had never stepped inside Ravana’s palace premises, her pictures made them the most beautiful place she’d ever seen in Lanka.
Mahiti drew the most beautiful garden she could ever imagine. The garden had colourful flowers, ponds, lilies, lotus, roses and jasmine. It had peacocks and butterflies. It had swings and swans. The garden was the most serene and heavenly abode Mahiti could envisage. She put her heart soul and art into the painting.
The most difficult part was to paint Sita. Mahiti thought, she must be the most beautiful woman in the universe. More beautiful than the stunning Menaka or Rambha who was considered the epitome of beauty. Even Shurpanagha was such a beauty many fantasized. The locals wouldn’t dare look at her, let alone admire her beauty. But Mahiti had once seen her closely and admired her beauty at the Temple.
Sita must be really beautiful! Mahiti took time to draw a sad, yet stern and beautiful figure of Sita. She didn’t miss out on any description she had ever heard about this beautiful lady whom her King abducted from the jungle.
