The Divine Wedding of Shiva and Parvati
Long ago, in the age of the gods, there lived a powerful king named Daksha. He had a beautiful daughter named Sati, who was deeply devoted to Lord Shiva. Despite Shiva’s simple appearance — covered in ash, wearing tiger skin, with serpents around his neck — Sati loved him with pure devotion and married him
However, Daksha disliked Shiva. He believed Shiva was unworthy of his daughter. One day, Daksha organized a grand yagna (sacred fire ritual) and invited all the gods — except Shiva and Sati.

Sati felt deeply hurt but decided to attend the ceremony against Shiva’s advice. When she reached the yagna, Daksha insulted Shiva publicly. Unable to bear the humiliation of her beloved husband, Sati sacrificed herself in the sacred fire.
When Shiva heard the news, his sorrow turned into fierce anger. He performed the Tandava, the cosmic dance of destruction. From his locks, he created the powerful warrior Veerabhadra, who destroyed Daksha’s yagna.
Afterward, Shiva withdrew from the world and went into deep meditation in the Himalayas.
Years later, Sati was reborn as Parvati, the daughter of King Himavan, the lord of the mountains. From childhood, Parvati felt an unexplained attraction toward Shiva. When she learned of her past birth, she resolved to win him again.

Parvati performed severe penance for years — standing in snow, giving up food, meditating day and night. Her devotion shook the heavens. Even the gods became concerned because the demon Tarakasura had a boon that only Shiva’s son could defeat him. But Shiva was lost in meditation.
Finally, moved by Parvati’s unwavering devotion, Shiva opened his eyes. He tested her in many ways, even appearing disguised to criticize himself. But Parvati remained firm in her love and faith.
At last, Shiva accepted her. Their wedding was celebrated with all gods, sages, and celestial beings present. The Himalayas echoed with divine music. Shiva arrived in a strange wedding procession — accompanied by ghosts, ganas, and strange beings — shocking Parvati’s family. But he soon revealed his beautiful divine form
