Attempt to save accused: Rahul Gandhi on Kolkata hospital rape-murder :

Rahul Gandhi, a Member of Parliament for the Indian National Congress, strongly criticized the RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata and local authorities for their response to the tragic incident involving the rape and murder of a trainee doctor. Gandhi alleged that there was evidence of an “attempt to save the accused,” indicating serious concerns about the conduct of the hospital and the local authorities in addressing this devastating crime.

In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi expressed shock at the rape and murder of a junior doctor in Kolkata. He highlighted the layers of cruelty in the act, which has left the medical community and women feeling insecure.”The attempt to save the accused instead of providing justice to the victim raises serious questions on the hospital and the local administration,” he added.

The Raebareli MP emphatically stated that every political party and sector of society must engage in serious discussions and take concrete actions to address the increasing incidents of violence against women, “from Hathras to Unnao, and from Kathua to Kolkata”.

“This tragic incident has compelled us to consider the safety of doctors in a setting as secure as a medical college. It raises the question of how parents can feel confident in sending their daughters out for education. Despite the implementation of stricter laws following the Nirbhaya case, we are left to wonder why such heinous crimes continue to occur.

“The body of the woman postgraduate trainee was found in a seminar hall at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital on August 9 morning. Her postmortem report revealed that she was raped and throttled to death.

The report also mentioned that the woman was bleeding from both eyes, mouth and private parts. The report said the wounds in her private parts were caused by “perverted sexuality” and “genital torture”.

A civic volunteer affiliated with the Kolkata Police, identified as Sanjay Roy, has been taken into custody in relation to the case involving the rape and murder of a trainee doctor. Roy reportedly confessed to both the rape and murder while being questioned by the police.

ಎಕ್ಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಪೋಸ್ಟ್ ಮಾಡಿದ ರಾಹುಲ್ ಗಾಂಧಿ, ಕೋಲ್ಕತ್ತಾದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಿರಿಯ ವೈದ್ಯೆಯ ಅತ್ಯಾಚಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಹತ್ಯೆಯ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಆಘಾತ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕಾಯಿದೆಯಲ್ಲಿನ ಕ್ರೌರ್ಯದ ಪದರಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರು ಎತ್ತಿ ತೋರಿಸಿದರು, ಇದು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಸಮುದಾಯ ಮತ್ತು ಮಹಿಳೆಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಸುರಕ್ಷಿತ ಭಾವನೆಯನ್ನು ಮೂಡಿಸಿದೆ.” ಸಂತ್ರಸ್ತೆಗೆ ನ್ಯಾಯ ಒದಗಿಸುವ ಬದಲು ಆರೋಪಿಯನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನವು ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಆಡಳಿತದ ಮೇಲೆ ಗಂಭೀರ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹುಟ್ಟುಹಾಕುತ್ತದೆ” ಎಂದು ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು.

“ಹತ್ರಾಸ್‌ನಿಂದ ಉನ್ನಾವೋವರೆಗೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕಥುವಾದಿಂದ ಕೋಲ್ಕತ್ತಾದವರೆಗೆ” ಮಹಿಳೆಯರ ಮೇಲಿನ ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಿರುವ ದೌರ್ಜನ್ಯದ ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಿಹರಿಸಲು ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಪಕ್ಷಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸಮಾಜದ ವಲಯಗಳು ಗಂಭೀರ ಚರ್ಚೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಬೇಕು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಂಕ್ರೀಟ್ ಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ರಾಯ್‌ಬರೇಲಿ ಸಂಸದರು ಒತ್ತಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.

“ಈ ದುರಂತ ಘಟನೆಯು ವೈದ್ಯರ ಸುರಕ್ಷತೆಯನ್ನು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಂತೆ ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಲು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಿದೆ. ಇದು ಪೋಷಕರು ತಮ್ಮ ಹೆಣ್ಣುಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಗೆ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ಹೊಂದುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂಬ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಯನ್ನು ಹುಟ್ಟುಹಾಕುತ್ತದೆ. ನಿರ್ಭಯಾ ನಂತರ ಕಠಿಣ ಕಾನೂನುಗಳ ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನದ ಹೊರತಾಗಿಯೂ ಇಂತಹ ಘೋರ ಅಪರಾಧಗಳು ಏಕೆ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿವೆ ಎಂದು ನಾವು ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯ ಪಡುತ್ತೇವೆ.

“ಆಗಸ್ಟ್ 9 ರಂದು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಕೋಲ್ಕತ್ತಾದ ಆರ್‌ಜಿ ಕಾರ್ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯ ಸೆಮಿನಾರ್ ಹಾಲ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹಿಳಾ ಸ್ನಾತಕೋತ್ತರ ತರಬೇತಿ ಪಡೆದ ಮಹಿಳೆಯ ಶವ ಪತ್ತೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಆಕೆಯ ಪೋಸ್ಟ್‌ಮಾರ್ಟಮ್ ವರದಿಯು ಆಕೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಅತ್ಯಾಚಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಥ್ರೊಟಲ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಲ್ಲಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಬಹಿರಂಗಪಡಿಸಿತು.

ಮಹಿಳೆಗೆ ಎರಡೂ ಕಣ್ಣು, ಬಾಯಿ ಮತ್ತು ಖಾಸಗಿ ಭಾಗಗಳಿಂದ ರಕ್ತಸ್ರಾವವಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ವರದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಆಕೆಯ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿನ ಗಾಯಗಳು “ವಿಕೃತ ಲೈಂಗಿಕತೆ” ಮತ್ತು “ಜನನಾಂಗದ ಚಿತ್ರಹಿಂಸೆ” ಯಿಂದ ಉಂಟಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ವರದಿ ಹೇಳಿದೆ.
